An Interview with Glyn Davies

Sometime ago I exchanged a number of email messages with Glyn Davies, a photographer from Wales.  His website is here.

Do I need the latest and greatest?

Recently someone commented on one of my blog posts about my thoughts concerning the Canon 1Ds Mark III and the Canon 5D Mark II. Which is better? Well, it depends.

How to clean your camera sensor using your breath . . .

I recently purchased a 1Ds Mark III camera, it was a demo model. Got a good deal on a lens trade.

Anyway, the sensor was really really really dirty. So, I went through the Pec Pad and Eclipse Solution approach, 25 times.

And I still had junk all over the sensor.

Choices

This morning I received an email message from a Doctor in Colorado.  Seems that we share a love of nature and photography.  Our discussion was about camera equipment and choices that we often make about which camera to buy.  As a Doctor and therefore a trained analyst, my new friend had done extensive reading, and along with his disappointments with cameras he has owned in the past, he was asking about my experiences with the Canon 1Ds Mark III which I just recently acquired.

Article about photography in Patagonia

As you probably know, I am one of the creators of Photo Travel Review, an online magazine about photography and travel.  The site now has articles about doing photography in 28 countries.  Most of the articles are written by non-professional photographers.  Some of them present stunning photographs from places less traveled.

Stuff we remember . . .

Sometimes photography is simply about recording a moment in time that we want to remember and relive, if you will.  It is sorta like rummaging through old photographs that were made by your mother and father.  Sometimes one of them brings back a great memory.

Several months ago I got an email message from Rick Gallant, an artist, who asked me if he could use one of my photographs as the subject of a painting.  I told him yes.

Two days ago Rick sent me a photograph of his painting.
