Ireland Article

Returning to the Sea

My colleague Melanie from Photo Travel Review Magazine and I have just completed a detailed article about a Photo Travel Review seminar in Ireland.  If you are considering travel to Ireland, you might want to read the article.  Melanie has included some fantastic photographs that she took during the seminar. I included some photos as well.

What is art and what is not?

Recently I posted a photograph to a well-known nature photography forum.  It is a place where one can show one’s photographs, make comments, suggest ways to improve the works of others, and receive comments from others, etc.

Blog Now Mobile Friendly

I have just installed a plugin for my blog that detects if you are using your mobile phone or PDA to read my stuff and it automatically creates a format/theme that is friendly to your device.  If you don’t like it, you can turn it off.

Grace Potter, Basketmaker

Yesterday I stopped by the Farmer’s Market in my hometown.  As I wandered around I noticed a lady selling hand made baskets.

What got my attention was how beautifully crafted they were with incredible details.  I have not seen better done anywhere.  Moreover, each one of her baskets is unique.

Stepping Outside the Box

I think we need to step outside the box from time to time and try new ways of showing our stuff differently.  After all, folks like Nick Brandt do it every day.

So, when we have a shot with colors not to our liking, maybe what we need to do is try something bold and different.

Geotagging Photographs

For the past four years, I have used a Sony GPS to geotag my photographs while shooting in remote locations.  The unit was a gift from my son and works very well.  I initially had issues with the unit being recognized by my Mac, but with my recent upgrade to Snow Leopard all is well.  One simply offloads the files and then converts them using free software, most notably GPS Visualizer.

TerraTriking

Long story, short version. I am overweight and out of shape. :-)

Friday I bought a TerraTrike Cruiser.

Saturday I rode the trike five miles.

Today I did almost 12 miles. Goal is 20 miles per day, leading up to 50 miles and then sustained training for a long trip on the TerraTrike. Yep, I am gonna do it.
